By the way,with everything fresh in it, docomo has its slogan that looks quite similar to Mountain Dew slogan. DO THE DEW is mountain dew,a soft drink brand's slogan. DO THE NEW is docomo's.
There was a hard drink brand (i forgot its name) which had one of the best slogans i've ever come across: FUNRISE AT SUNSET

Known journalist urvish kothari has mentioned couple of funny/strange signboards in his blog.so interesting is the topic that it reminded me many such innovative boards.
When you get off the train at lucknow station,you are welcomed with a line spoken sweetly from the loudspeaker: MUSKURAIYE... KI AAP LUCKNOW ME HAI
a nice way,really,to greet a person!
Couple of years back,once i was in the ghatlodia area of ahmedabad and i happened to read boards hung on almost every lamppost:

As holi is the festival of colors,i think,a painter must be the person who feels this festival very close to his heart.
M.f.hussain,the greatest indian painter alive,who has been living in u.k.-u.a.e. for past half a decade or so,is offered citizenship by Qatar and hussain may give a nod to it.
Hussain is a criminal? Only criminals an pakistan's dethroned presidents live in exile.hussain is neither of these.he's an artist who doesn't know ways of the world,he doesn't care that everybody stays pleased.
'Emotions' of handful people running small time parties got hurted by titles of the paintings.they tossed this issue and overnight hussain became the bad man. His gallery in ahmedabad called 'gufa' too was attacked and his several paintings destroyed.after number of protests held against him,many cases filed against him,he chose to leave the country. Half a dozen extremists decide whether you'll be allowed to live in the country or you'll leave it.the govt,the court,the police,the human rights commission,the art lovers-all these bodies could not provide protection to the great painter.
Just like bangladesh's generation next will ask their parents why they could not deserve taslima nasrin,our kids will ask us the same question with hussain's name replacing taslima when they grow up. How will you explain?

Feb,27,Coach-S/6, Narendra Modi and 3000+ days...
Narendra Modi was watching the 3rd ODI at Motera Stadium and Yusuf Pathan took wicket of South African opener.when yusuf was celebrating this wicket with his team-mates,what must be the thought in Modi's mind? 'i took several wickets 8 years back after Godhra massacre.'
the act of setting the coach on fire in which karsevaks were travelling was an unforgivable act.the involveds must be penalised.but it was the duty of the court.in this case,the mobs took over the courts' duty.and it's not advisable to expect sensible outcome when the mob is in action.as expected,it claimed hundreds of peoples' lives.the social,religious climate of the state was terribly disturbed.
Who was responsible? The people who killed 58 karsevak?no.it was the aim of those bunch of (slang) to create chaotic situation in the state which they achieved.
Ok.then govt. is responsible?yes.govt should have handled the situation after this tragedy tactfully. It's not that it failed to do so.instead,the govt (read modi) percieved this calamity as an opportunity to build his image as a saviour.and he could do that masterfully. Modi's age as a cm is as old as Godhra massacre plus six months.
Modi's victory in december,'02 election was just thanks to godhra issue.no doubt,he has done oiling in govt. machinery and has put the state on a way to progress.but the progress of the state as well as change in attitude of sarkari babulog is virtual.there are newly built Sewa Sadan containing the govt offices is there in every district place.it's a good packaging lookwise but the product which is there in the wrapper is the same-as corrupt as it was ever.
Modi is doing a great harm by keeping the people of the state under the impression that all is well about gujarat.all can never be well for all for all time.such a mentality make the people delicate and they learn to accept the situation even when it is unacceptable. Peoples' 'tolerance' was well exhibited after pankaj trivedi and dipesh-abhishek murders.
Jayant khatri,a celebrated gujarati story writer,wrote to Chandrakant baxi when later's wife gave birth to a kid, 'parents too are born with the birth of a child.' can we say, 'a leader too is born with the birth of a communal riot.'? What say?
