When you get off the train at lucknow station,you are welcomed with a line spoken sweetly from the loudspeaker: MUSKURAIYE... KI AAP LUCKNOW ME HAI
a nice way,really,to greet a person!
Couple of years back,once i was in the ghatlodia area of ahmedabad and i happened to read boards hung on almost every lamppost:
MUSKURAIYE... KI AAP GHATLODIA ME HAI
come on,ghatlodia! Give me at least one reason to do so after reaching you. Lucknow has plenty.
I got a reason to smile when i read a line written just at the entrance of a footwear shop at vallabh vidhyanagar: KEEP YOUR FOOTWEAR OUT

superb expression from pure desi dialect which looks close to anybody who's a gujarati.

કિરણ, બહુ સરસ વિષય પકડ્યો! અમુક ઘરનું નામ ઉદગારસૂચક હોય છે, જેમ કે 'હાશ'. આ વાંચીને મને કાયમ થાય કે ઘર બનાવતાં તેની જે દશા થઇ હશે તે જોતાં 'ઢૂસ' નામ રાખવું જોઇએ. એવું જ 'નેસ્ટ'નું. ઘણા 'માળો'નામ પણ રાખે છે. ક્યાંય 'ગુફા','બખોલ' કે 'દર' નામ જોયું નથી. પતિપત્ની અને સંતાનના પ્રથમાક્ષરોથી બનાવાતા અર્થહીન નામોની વાત કરવા જેવી જ નથી.
